Privacy Policy

Effective Date:Ā January 1, 2026

Why This Matters

When you work with Modern Somatics—whether you're signing up for a program, making a purchase, or joining our community—you're sharing information with us. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it. It's written to be clear, not buried in legal language.

We believe transparency builds trust. You deserve to know exactly what happens with your data, and you're in control of it.

Who We Are

Modern Somatics is founded and led by Shandra Artura, a somatic healing coach, educator, and trauma-informed practitioner. We operate from the Embodied Healing Center in Melbourne, Florida.

What This Policy Covers

This privacy policy applies to:

  • Anyone who visits modernsomatics.com
  • Anyone who signs up for our programs, courses, or email list
  • Anyone who purchases from us or works with us as a client
  • Visitors to our physical location, the Embodied Healing Center

If you have any questions about how we handle your information, we're here to help. Don't hesitate to contact us.

What Information Do We Collect?

We collect different information depending on how you interact with us. Here's what we gather and why:

Email & Contact Information
When you sign up for our email list, a program, or a course, we collect your email address and name. We use this to send you program materials, updates, and occasionally information about other offerings that might support your healing journey.

Purchase & Payment Information
When you buy a course, toolkit, certification, or coaching program, we collect purchase history and payment details. This helps us process your transaction, deliver what you've purchased, and honor any refund or enrollment policies. We don't store your full credit card details—our payment processor, Stripe, handles that securely on your behalf.

Program Enrollment & Progress Data
When you join one of our programs (like Body Mapping, The Return, our Coaching Certification, or others), we track your enrollment status and your progress through the material. This helps us support you better and know where you are in your journey.

Assessment & Session Notes
If you work with us as a coaching client or take a program that includes assessments, we collect notes about your sessions, your goals, and your progress. These notes are how we provide personalized, trauma-informed care. Only you, your coach, and our support team can see these—and they're kept confidential.

Website Activity (For Now & Later)
When you visit modernsomatics.com, basic information about your visit is logged (like the pages you view). Right now, we don't use advanced tracking. However, we plan to add Google Analytics and Facebook Pixel in the near future to better understand how people use our site and to reach you with relevant content. When we add these tools, we'll update this policy—and you'll have the option to opt out.

Who We Share Your Information With

We don't sell your data. We don't rent it. But some services that help us run Modern Somatics do have access to it. Here's who:

Kajabi (Our Platform)
Kajabi hosts our website and manages our courses, programs, and email communications. Kajabi can see your email, name, purchase history, and enrollment data. They're bound by their own privacy policy to keep it secure. When you sign up with us, you're also agreeing to Kajabi's terms.

Stripe (Payment Processing)
When you make a purchase, Stripe processes your payment. Stripe sees transaction information and handles your payment details securely—we never store your full credit card number.

Our Coaches & Support Team
If you're working with us as a client or enrolled in a program, your coach and our support staff may see your assessment notes, session data, and progress. Everyone who touches your information is trained in confidentiality and trauma-informed care. If we bring on employees or contractors in the future, they'll be bound by the same confidentiality standards.

Google Analytics & Facebook Pixel (Coming Soon)
We plan to add these tools to track how people use our site and to show you relevant content on social media. These services will see basic information about your visits (pages you view, buttons you click) but not your personal details like email or payment info. When we activate these, we'll update this policy and give you the option to opt out.

Legal Authorities (If Required)
If we're required by law to share your information (like a subpoena or court order), we will. We'll tell you it happened unless we're legally prevented from doing so.

Data Retention: How Long We Hold Your Information

We don't keep your information forever. Here's our policy:

Active Programs & Coaching
While you're enrolled in a program or working with us as a client, we keep all your data to support your progress and deliver what you've purchased.

After Your Program Ends
Once your program is complete or you stop working with us, we keep your data for 60 days. This gives you time to download anything you need, ask questions, or request changes. After 60 days, we delete your personal information—assessment notes, session data, and progress records.

Purchase & Payment Records
For tax and legal reasons, we may keep basic records (that you purchased something) longer than 60 days, but we delete the detailed personal information tied to that purchase.

Email List
If you're on our email list but haven't purchased or enrolled in a program, we keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Backups & Archives
Sometimes data lives in backups for a short time after deletion. We do our best to remove your information completely, but archived backups may take longer to fully purge.

Your Rights: You're In Charge

You have rights over your own information. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data
Want to know exactly what we have about you? You can request a copy of all the information we've collected. Email us, and we'll send it to you in a clear format within 30 days.

Download Your Data
You can ask for your information in a portable format so you can move it elsewhere or keep your own backup.

Delete Your Data
You can request that we delete your personal information at any time—even before your 60-day retention period ends. We'll honor that request, with a few exceptions (like basic transaction records we need to keep for legal/tax reasons).

Opt Out of Marketing Emails
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. Click it, and we'll remove you from our mailing list immediately. You'll stop hearing from us about new programs and updates, but transactional emails (like order confirmations or program access links) will still come through.

Correct Inaccurate Information
If something in your file is wrong, let us know and we'll fix it.

How to Exercise Your Rights
To request any of these—access, download, deletion, or corrections—email us at [YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS] with "Privacy Request" in the subject line. Include what you're requesting and we'll respond within 30 days.

For California Residents (CCPA)
California law gives you additional rights, including the right to know what personal information is collected and how it's used. This entire policy covers that. If you have specific CCPA questions, contact us and we'll clarify.

For EU & UK Residents (GDPR)
You have the right to withdraw consent, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority if you feel your rights have been violated. We take these rights seriously.

How We Protect Your Information

Your data is important to us. We use industry-standard security practices:

  • Our website uses encryption (SSL/TLS) to protect information in transit
  • Our platforms (Kajabi, Stripe) use their own security measures to protect data at rest
  • Access to sensitive data is limited to people who need it
  • We don't store unnecessary information

We can't promise perfect security—no system is 100% safe—but we take reasonable steps to protect you.

What Happens If There's a Data Breach?
If we discover that your information has been compromised, we'll notify you as soon as possible—typically within 30 days. We'll tell you what happened, what information was affected, and what steps we're taking to fix it. If you're a California or EU resident, you'll get this notification by law.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

As Modern Somatics grows, this policy may change. If we make material changes—like how we use your data or who we share it with—we'll notify you by email and update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.

If you disagree with changes, you can always delete your account or ask us to remove your data. Continuing to use our services after we notify you of changes means you accept the new policy.
